Full disclaimerSix months after British Columbia and Alberta signed their wine agreement, AGLC — Alberta's liquor regulator — signs off on the operational details, and the program starts accepting real orders. It's the first bilateral, agreement-based direct-to-consumer alcohol program in Canada to actually operate, rather than just be announced. Manitoba had separately allowed direct-to-consumer alcohol sales unilaterally since 2018, but outside of a reciprocal interprovincial agreement.
The program stays wine-only and one-directional (BC to Alberta).
